I turned off the T.V. so that I could open a book
I stopped taking your word for it so that I could figure out the answers myself
I quit my job so that I could actually work towards something
I traded four hardened walls for a rippling tent
I gave up the softness of a bed for the all too intimate companionship of bugs
I left the sirens of cops, fire-trucks and ambulances for the alarming white tail of deer, songs of birds and the fluttering wings of fleeing pheasants
I gave up the roof over our heads for a celestial ceiling
I pulled my children from the safety of the feedlot so that they could feel the winds of freedom

I feel so selfish

I began this blog to help us reach out to collect donations for Charity: Water, fill people in on our trip, and to throw up a few of my random feelings and rants. To date we have ridden 979 miles and unfortunately we have only raised $125. Only 4 people have donated. If there were quiet readers waiting in the bushes, holding on to their money to see if we were serious about this journey; we aren’t seeing them.

Everyday we put ourselves out there. We aren’t just talking, walking around and asking people for money. We are giving ourselves to this cause and this trip. I am just not seeing the results we need with this blog. We could have just stayed at home pinched more pennies than we had been and just outright donated the $5k to help out all those people in need.

So…

I will be transferring all the tour info to the other website I write for. If you are here to follow the family I suggest you check out my column “Fatherhood On The Go” on www.8bitdad.com . There will are weekly updates with pictures and episodes that are posted on Mondays.

From here on out the contents of this blog are going to my thoughts, poetry and music. I will give a disclaimer that some of the future posts may be offensive to some, as this blog is going to my own little personal space on the interwebs, and I am very opinionated, passionate about what I believe in and hard-headed.

I can not continue to write for two blogs, ride 45-50 miles everyday and be the dad and husband that my family needs. Thank you all for reading and I hope you all continue to read my writings.
